Solo is a late change to our original schedule because of the on-going eruption of Mt Merapi, which we witnessed in the distance on our journey. Strangely we were given the option of having a closer look the following day, together with a trip to a refuge centre for victims of the volcano – a strange option that we politly declined. Instead we decided to take in some of the immediate sights and ended up playing football with a couple of young kids at the traditional market before taking in an art exhibition by a local artist - Yaqub Elka.
